Dragonfly
I found this in my kitchen this morning. I thought it was dead until I attempted to move it outside and it scared the shit out of me. So then I more gingerly moved it, while it continued stretching and flicking its wings in a partly comatose manner. I'm not sure if he was sleeping, or on the verge of death, but he seemed oddly placid about my handling of him. So I set him out on my porch, named him Ferdinand, and grabbed my camera because dragonflies are such pretty insects.
Since the sun was just rising and couldn't quite be seen yet over the trees and houses, the indirect lighting made some interesting color on this photo. I had to wait for him to stop preening his face, so I could get a good shot of his front legs. It's my favourite.
I really wish my camera were a lot higher resolution, but normally it works for my amateur enthusiasm.
